Joyce Meyer - CD Talking Books Reviews
Seven Things That Steal Your Joy by Joyce Meyer, 2004, is a 5 CD set of scriptural wisdom. The teachings are based on the premise that we are meant to enjoy life and we are to keep our joy in order to be strong against evil (the thing that steals our joy). There are seven ways our lives can be robbed of joy and Joyce offers seven antidotes or ways we can keep our joy when challenged by these situations. The suggestions are straight forward and rooted in scripture.
She also offers simple prayers to say that can be effective in maintaining a joy-filled life. The
wisdom she shares is based on her life’s experience and her ministry work. If you have ever tried to reason your way out of a complicated life, sit back and listen to heartfelt advice on
experiencing balance, contentment and joy every day.
100 Ways to Simplify Your Life by Joyce Meyer, lists practical steps to take in a path of simplicity. I listened to this CD set once from start to finish. The second time I listened with a pen in hand and took notes in order to anchor the steps more firmly in consciousness.
Some suggestions are rooted in simple efficiency, some offer positive self-talk while
others give sensible financial habits. Each way has biblical references to connect the practice
within a Christian frame of mind. All the suggestions given will help someone defeat joy
stealer #3 'complicating simple issues' in Seven Things That Steal Your Joy.
Both sets of CD's were an easy way to process a lot of material quickly. It was my first
experience with the library's collection of talking books and I plan to check out more. Joyce
narrates Seven Things That Steal Your Joy and Joyce's daughter narrates 100 Ways to Simplify
Your Life. Both women have good public speaking voices and Joyce has the deeper toned strong
minister's voice.
